Pilot
point
A pilot point is an operating site used by the franchisor to test its business concept before undertaking franchise network development. There is no legal obligation to operate a pilot prior to the development of a franchise network. However, franchising is a contractual technique allowing the reiteration of success based on the exploitation of original, substantial and identified know-how: what know-how can therefore exist without experimentation? The existence of one or more pilots is thus in practice necessary and constitutes a guarantee of seriousness given by the franchisor for the reiteration of its commercial success
